Callie's Kennel: Welcome Home!

Meet the newest addition to the LaRue family - Miss Callie! She is 7 weeks old and Clark just picked her up from a kennel in Eastern Washington on Saturday. So far, she is adjusting very well the ever-growing chaos in our house. She already goes to the front door when she needs to pee - yeah! But she is already chewing everything, so we'll need to watch out for that one.

Kady eats green beans

This was her first REAL food - green beans! She enjoyed this much more than the cereal and ate it way better. She ate the entire container, we couldn't believe it.

Kady's Korner: 5 1/2 months

Enjoying one of the first sunny days of her life!

She is going to miss her dad so much when he goes back to work.

First plane ride to Colorado Springs. Happy baby flying over the great state of Wyoming.

Kady has had a busy couple of weeks in her fifth month of life. A few highlights are...

First Easter. Kady celebrated her first Easter with breakfast and an egg hunt at Aunt Julie and Uncle Perry's house with all her Erdahl family. Grandma Moore helped her find her toys from the Easter bunny. Then she hosted the LaRue family at her house and loved playing with all her cousins.

Eating more than milk. Kady had her first bowl of rice cereal, which was mostly milk with a little cereal (see video in blog post). She got quite frustrated after a while because it was a lot of work for a little food. Now she has cereal every night with her bottle and/or from the bowl. Next week, we will try spinach!!

First flight. The LaRue family took their first flight as a family to visit Heather, Keith, Keagan and Morghan in Colorado Springs. Kady did a great job on the flight to CO with absolutely no crying. During takeoff and landing she just snuggled in and fell asleep. The flight home was a little tougher, she wanted to play so got a little fussy, but again, did great. No screaming and no trouble with takeoff and landing. On Tuesday, we take a trip to Dallas, which will be quite a bit longer, so hopefully she'll hang in there!

Discovering hands and feet. She is obsessed with her hands and her feet and loves to play with them! She can effectively use her hands to pick up her binky and put it in her mouth, and plays with several of her toys. She is aware of these appendages and loves to watch them move. :)

Flip flopper. She can easily flip back and forth, back to tummy and tummy to back. She loves to play with her glow worm as she flip-flops around like a fish. She is scooching pretty good now too if there's a toy just out of reach, so we're hoping that turns into a crawl pretty soon!

Swimming lessons. We had a great first two weeks of swimming lessons at the YMCA! Kady looked adorable in her swimsuit. :) She started out a little stiff in the water, but by week two, she was splashing around and playing with the other kids (all of whom are about four or more months older than her). Also during week two, mom dunked her under the water, which, as instructor Rick says, "harder on mom than on baby." She had a look of terror when she came up, but after much praise and excitement from mom, she quickly forgot about her fear. We are missing three consecutive lessons because of traveling, but look forward to picking back up next week.

She continues to amaze us every day and we look forward to what she will do next!!

Kady's Korner: EATING!

Sorry this has taken so long to post...

Check out her first time eating real food earlier this month (OK, it's milk with a little rice cereal, but in baby life, that's considered food ;))
